The monograph is focused on the detailed analysis of bow-brooches from main cemeteries of the Olsztyn-Group in Tumiany and Kielary. This archaeological group of the baltic population during the Great Migration Period in North-East Poland is characterised by rich grave-goods showing relations especially to the area of the Merovingian culture.
Bow-brooches, often from silver or gilded, belong to the best evidence in this sense. The transfer of such goods was based not only on the trade, but also on superregional contacts of social elites, involving e. g. gifts.
