Abstract
The state of disrepair into which Prague and its architecture had fallen during 40 years of communism can be seen as a kind of metaphor for the toxicity by which all life was infected during that period. However, the "new" Prague which has emerged suffers, perhaps as much, from the clinical patina which coats so much of modern life.
