Abstract
The development of nursing and position of a nurse passed through complicated ways not only in the distant past, but also in the recent past which is part of the biographical story of surviving nurses. Nurses in the past in the times of the totalitarian regime, when they were internationally isolated, always aimed for the nursing to be formed as autonomous profession with high technical and humanitarian credit.
History is written by individuals, and their personal experience is a significant legacy to the present day. Every life story, every narration is part of more widely outlined qualitative research in nursing.
