The Authors regard František Palacký as a memory site within the meaning of Pierre Nora, i. e. with reference to the facts which are able to call him to mind again on the symbolic plane. They principally focus on the national festivals in 1898 and his portrayal on Czechoslovak and Czech banknotes (1934, 1993).
A special merit of their study lies in the anniversary of Palacký on postage stamps (1848, 1998). In conclusion they observe that mythological epithet - "Father of the Nation" - displays in diverse peripateias of Modern Czech history a trully uncommon longevity.
