The Tense Relation of Bohemia to Empire as Mirrored in Bohemian Historiography of Přemyslide Time.

Abstract

The author deals with the development of the relations between the rulers of Bohemia and Holy Roman Empire and their political representatives from the formation of the Bohemian state to the beginning of the 14th century, and with their reflection of these relations in the Bohemian historical writing from the oldest work of the first quarter of 12th century to the end of the Přemyslides time (The Chronicle of the Czechs by Cosmas of Prague, the work of the First Continuator of Cosmas, Annales Gradicenses et Opatovicenses, Annals written by the Prague canon Vincentius and the continuation of these annals by Jarloch, the abbot of Milevsko, Chronicon Monachi Sazaviensis, Second Continuation of Cosmas, Old Czech Chronicle by the so-called Dalimil). In addition, the article offers an analysis of the political thought of the intellectuals at the Bohemian Lands in the Přemyslide time.
