Six essays by M. Tsvetaeva on poetry and poets were used to analyze the key features of her prose style.
Apart from the omnipresent autobiographic motivation, the concrete stylistic principles identified include rhythmic composition of the text based on syntactic parallelism, gradation, ellipse and "poetics of aphorism", associative development of thought using lexical derivation and euphony. The difficulty of rendering these features is discussed on translation samples, which also illustrate differences between the approaches of two key Czech translators of Tsvetaeva.
