The article describes the way in which the novel that was written in the spirit of the western leftism of the 1960's and 1970's was reviewed in the press of totalitarian Czechoslovakia (especially it aims at the political dimension of the novel) and it maps out the way in which the novel was censored - in the comparative perspektive with the Russian translation of the book that was published the same year.
