Abstract

Total knee arthroplasty (so called alloplasty) is the treatment of gorssly destructed knee joints The aim is to develop the most complex reconstruction of the knee joint function. The main attributes are motion, stability and painlessness.

Knee joint is the most loaded and biomechanically the most complicated joint of the human body. Excentrical curvature of the femoral condyles , relativelly, shallow joint mortises of the tibial condyles together with functioning ligament apparatus allows the movements in the knee in all three planes and axes.
