Town Veselí nad Moravou in the period of so called First Czechoslovak Republic and The Protectorat of Bohemia and Moravia
Abstract
The establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918 Veselí nad Moravou did not hit too. The town still remained agricultural and trade city with little industry.
This despite the fact that in 1918 there were created two factories: Reichsfeld's shoe factory (later Standard) and the furniture factory Beer &Žádník. Town was also affected by land reform, through which more than 200 inhabitants of Veselí received an allocation of land.
Notable is also the cultural, associational and sporting life of inhabitants after 1918. In the town there were nearly 50 organizations that took part in city life and at the end of the 30th years actively participated in all activities related to the defense of the Republic.
After the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the daily life of residents in Veselí did not changed much, except the Jewish and Roma population affected by racial discrimination. Part of the population is also involved in anti-fascist resistance, and some residents fought on the Eastern and Western Front.
