The aim of the presented work is a short overview of some previously published experimental and model researches which deal with the positive column of DC glow discharge in the pressure range up to several hundreds pascals. Paper is focused on the oxygen discharge and the phenomena of the possible existence of two forms in this discharge, so called high and low gradient form with the axial electric field about 10 V/cm or 1 V/cm.
The ability of reported works and models to cover properties and behavior of the electronegative low temperature plasma useful for future work is evaluated.
