We present a brief overview of several swarm experimental techniques. Each mentioned technique is accompanied with its description, application and historical significance.
Techniques mentioned are: drift tube, stationary afterglow, flowing afterglow and ion cyclotron resonance spectroscopy. A short overview of cooling techniques follows.
Some aspects of a new Cryo-FALP apparatus with variable flow tube temperature down to 40 K constructed in our group are described. Measurements of the flow tube temperature evolution at several different conditions are shown.
