Pros and Cons of Political Division of Lebanese Christians

Publication |
2010

Abstract

The article entitled describes the decrease in political power of the Christian community after the end of the Civil war (1990) and the growth in power after the withdrawal of Syria from Lebanon in 2005. The political split of Christians along the Sunnites' (March 14) and Shiites' (March 8) political lines is seen as a rather pragmatic tactic.

However, using different ways, Christian politicians try to reach a common Christian goal consisting in securing influential government and state administration posts as well as economical and cultural liberties.
