Charakteristics of the use of Upper German language in Franz Kafka's novel "The process"

Abstract

By error linguistic methods the article focuses on Franz Kafka's self corrections in the manuscript of his novel "The Process" looking for evidence for phonetically induced errors. By means of error-typologies one can reconstruct Upper German, partly clearly recognizable Bavarian-Austrian characteristics of articulation and inflection in the language spoken by Kafka in everyday life.
