Abstract
As it has been already shown by members of the Prague Linguistic Circle, dynamics of the language system ranks among general tendencies of the development of every language. The paper presents a brief characterisation of some of up-to-date and new phenomena and processes in the word-formation of contemporary Czech vocabulary.
Then it concentrates on compound words. As illustrated, composition plays an important role in nomination.
Traditionally it is used when creating names in specialised spheres, more and more also in media and every-day speech.
