The concept of the proximate determinants of fertility. The Bongaarts model and the fertility of women from Roma localities.

Abstract
The article attempts to approach the concept of the proximate determinants of fertility which was elaborated by American sociologists Kingsley Davis and Judith Blake and it was modified by John Bongaarts in the 70s. Using the Bongaarts model we attempted to define and explain the main factors of higher fertility of Roma women from villages with the highest concentration of Roma population.
