The paper is devoted to new system of unique global identification of works creators, producers, publishers and distributors "ISNI" (International Standard Name Identifier), according to the international standard ISO 27729. The opening part of paper outlines briefly development and issues of mentioned entities unique and persistent identification in different communities (rights management societies, libraries, information producers and others), especially in conditions of digital information communication.
Main part of paper will present the ISNI identifier, identified entities in so-called "public identities" conception, principles of identifiers allocation and whole global ISSN network building including its central database. The centre of the network - ISNI International Agency was put into operation in London in December 2010 as not-for-profit organisation, incorporated by consotium of six founding members.
The possibilities of identification Czech creators, producers et al. by ISNI identifier are discussed in the end of paper.
