Abstract
This paper focuses on the introduction and description of the current state of two main programs of the European Union. The Galileo program includes development and build up European operational satellite navigation system under civilian control.
Its goal is to provide five categories of service levels. Younger GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) programme is focused on the use of Earth observation for European economic demands and security applications.
