Abstract
The article is a historical/theoretical excursion into the urban ethnomusicology. After concentrating on genres or local repertory (until the 80s), the study of the city is getting the central topic in the ethnomusicology because of its basic features which it shares with the contemporary culture: diverzity and variability.
