Methotrexate bioavailability after oral and subcutaneous dministration in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis

Abstract

The study compared the bioavailability of methotrexate administered oraly and intravenously to children with idiopathic artrithis. The results show that unlike for subcutaneous route, the pharmacokinetics of oral methotrexte are nonlinear within the range of 6.1-28.6 mg/m2 most probably due to saturable intestinal absorption.
