Abstract
The article presents the construction of the Berlin Wall as a positive watershed in Brandt's career, which enabled his further ascendancy, and as a moment which led to the birth of a modern political style of communication. An analysis is presented of Brandt's period of office as the Mayor of West Berlin and the communication of problems both with regard to the population and towards his political partners.
