Abstract
The story of Václav Havel's life is often conceived of as a kind of legend, myth, or cult. He represents a salient example of a well-known personality who gives example for others to follow.
The legend of his life may be divided into two phases: the period until his nomination for president and the following one from his presidentship on. Though Havel's popularity decreased in his homeland during the second period, he is generally conceived of as a legendary, charismatic leader who headed the movement that overthrew the communist regime in Europe.
