Rehabilitation of Metaphysics in Philosophy of E. Levinas and J. Patočka

Publication |
2006

Abstract

The article compares the motive of the rehabilitation of metaphysics in the philosophies of Jan Patočka and emmanuel Lévinas. The description of this tendency is driven by the motive of transcendence, concretely by the motive of the crossing over to the absolutely other. our comparison would show, on the one hand, Patočkas swing to heideggers philosophy (in the motif of non-objective existence) and, on the other hand, the deflection of Lévinas thinking by this line of philosophy (with emphasis on ethics in the face of ontology).
