Abstract
The aim if this article is to elucidate questions of biological psychiatry for readers of a professional journal, wchich is directed rather psychotherapeutically. It is not feasible to give a global overview of current knouwledge in the field of biological psychiatry in one article, the author only wants to refer to some important topics as reflected in The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry.
Several genetic, neuroimaging, electrophysiological, endocrine and immunological findings are mentioned with reference to biological treatments of mental disorders. Modern trends in biological psychiatry are especially represented by a high degree of integration of individual knowledge as well as world scientific community.
