Free time as a factor of risk

Publication |
2006

Abstract

The growth of free time during the last century, though generally a welcome phenomenon, bears with it some social risks as well. Frustrated youth, unable to cope with its free time, can be mobilized by extremist movements etc.

Thus, the growth of free time means a challenge for the educational system: young people - as Masaryk was one of the first to see - should be educated not only for a certain job or profession, but for the leisure time as well.
