Abstract

On grounds of the latest studies, the AHA and the ERC reppraised the value of mouth-to-mouth breathing during out-of-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults if the event is witnessed. The authors summarize recent changes of the Guidelines for Basic Life Support in that continuous chest compressions without ventilation are preferred in certain situations due to pathophysiology of the most frequent type of cardiac arrest.
