The article analyses ways of compliance with gender stereotypes as well as their subversion in Gabriela Preissová's drama Her Stepdaughter. Drawing on Foucault, the article discusses the main protagonit's - Kostelnička's - position both within discourse and power relations as they are represented in the drama.
The article concludes that the complexity of Kostelnička's position has a detrimental effect on the character's freedom in acting and agency.
