Abstract

Understanding the patient's personality gives the therapist space to choose an optimal physiotherapeutic technique within the intensions of specimen individuality. It is not only the question of their mental qualities, but also understanding the potential psychosomatic phenomenon in which knowledge of some modern psychotherapeutic techniques can help us.

These techniques work with the body and are usually referred to as somatopsychotherapy. Such techniques include bioenergetic analysis to which this work is devoted.

The introduction brings some basic information on bioenergetic analysis as a specific psychotherapeutic technique and then we focus on the options of its use in physiotherapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate bioenergy analysis from the perspective of the physiotherapist and then suggest a possible application of the whole method or its elements in physiotherapy.

The application of the method as a whole proved to be quite complicated for several reasons. However, in our opinion, the application of individual elements, both diagnostics and therapy, can be rewarding for the work of a physiotherapist, especially at those patients at whom psychological factors play an important role in the development of their difficulties.
