Abstract

Database of the SUKL and health insurance company was used in our study to analyse consumption of proton pump inhibitors (PPI), antibiotics and metformin. The rapid increase in utilization of PPI was demonstrated with omeprazol the most frequently used.

Consumption of metformin increased more than twice in the period from 2001 to 2008. Penicillines were the most frequently prescribed antibiotics, mainly amoxicillin in combination with clavulanic acid.
