Abstract

Nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC), encompassing basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), is the most frequent cancer in fair-skinned populations, particularly frequent in countries with high sun exposure and in immunosuppressed patients. The incidence of NMSC has increased dramatically worldwide.

Although BCC and SCC possess many similar features, there are fundamentals biological differences.
