Abstract

The cold is a stress stimulus which activates the sympathetic nervous system. The pituitary - adrenal axis is also activated.

For the development of the cold adaptation thyroid hormones are necessary. In hypothermia exercise activity declines and this reduces metabolic heat production.

It causes the individual to become more fatigue and thereby potentially dangerous situation can occur.
