Abstract
The survey deals with all important aspects of migraine. At the beginning the epidemiology is mentioned.
In the next part the pathophysiology of migraine is described including cortical spreading depression, trigeminal vascular system, vasoactive neuropeptides, sterile neurogenic inflammation, mechanisms of peripheral and central sensitization, and significance of serotonin and nitric oxide. Then the farmacotherapy of migraine follows.
