Wheat can trigger adverse reactions, most often presenting as IgE-mediated food hypersensitivity or T-cell mediated gluten enteropathy - coeliac disease. IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reactions manifest as a traditional food allergy as wheat-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA) - when gluten intake is followed by exercise or occupational (baker's) asthma and rhinitis.
