The article deals with the analysis of two documents describing the incident that happened during the Easter octave in 1623 in Hradec Králové. Using the background of a violent act committed against organist Jan Dentulin Novobydžovský, it illuminates not only the musical life in the Church of the Holy Spirit in Hradec Kralove not long after the Battle of White Mountain, but also the situation in the field of secular music, performed by musician's guild.
