A "cultural war" rages between Christian churches and gay communities in contemporary Western world. This study presents an overall look at the "third party" - those, who try to mitigate this cultural war and find ways of integration of gay identity into Christian tradition. 1/ Attempts are made primarily in the field of church organization. 2/ Analogous attempts are transferred in the field of political discourse. 3/ Biblical studies provide deeper theological arguments for integration. 4/ In the field of the church history there are also some attempts to reconstruct some not-only-negative relations between churches and homosexuals. 5/ This is also related with a search for specific spirituality, i.e. practice of religious life, for gay Christians. 6/ The key area is the one of sacramental theology.
Here the question of the nature of church blessing of same-sex unions is discussed.
