Abstract

The authors describe unusual case of migration of the part of torn guide-wire used during the Seldinger technique of central venous line cannulation. 34 years old woman has been complaining about pressure and stabbing type of pain in the right supraclavicular area. X-ray of the area demonstrated foreign body.

The most likely mechanism was assumed to be local percutaneous entry. Checking her previous history we found out she at the age of 8 sustained severe burning injury and at that time there was a complication of tearing the guide-wire with the introductory needle.
