The Catalans: An Example of the Revitalization of an Ethnic Minority

Abstract

This paper assesses the historical development of inter-ethnic relations in Spain and its consequences for the present emancipation and revitalization of the Catalan language and culture. In spite of much debate, the contemporary arrangement of Spain allows for the preservation of both its ethnic and cultural diversity and its territorial integrity.
