Abstract
The text sums up some attempts in which different thinkers tried to deal with the development of civilisation in the tventieth century. two philosophical attempts - by Jan Patočka and his Supercivilisation and its internal conflict and by Paul Ricoeur and his Universal Civilisation - to capture the universal movement of civilisation on the planet. Both see chenging positions of particular cultures and civilisations which transform into one single, technical and rational civilisation.
