The paper deals with the history of health promotion policy in the Czech Republic during 1990-2012. The aims of the paper are as follows: 1) to reveal different approaches to health promotion policy (and to health and health determinants), defined by the Czech governments in significant conceptual documents and 2) based on the study of secondary documents to identify significant events of the implementation of the policy under consideration.
The value of health, perceived by the government (or more precisely declared in the conceptual documents) and the particular approach to health determinants, which, as the article suggests, relates to political leanings of the governments, are some of the significant factors of the subsequently implemented health promotion policy.
