Focusing on the spatial distribution of population this article analyzes changes in urban and regional system of Czechia in 1991-2011. First, we analyze population growth and decline in 260 labor micro-regions and functional urban regions.
The second part of the article is devoted to trajectories of internal development within micro-regions. We analyze population changes in three basic territorial parts of micro-regions, in their cores, suburban zones and peripheral parts.
Then we assess urban and regional system of Czechia according to the presence of processes of urbanization, suburbanization and desurbanization in all micro-regions.
