The case study discusses a long story of a bus driver from Olomouc who drew antennae on the heads of politicians on their posters during the election campaign in the Czech Republic in 2010. His actions could be just called little jokes or a cute protest of an ordinary citizen of the Czech Republic, but it became a public affair after a short time.

The man became a hero thanks to the media soon, and a plenty of new meanings started to be associated with his behaviour. The story started to gain a political meaning and it opened a public discussion on a lot of issues.

On this basic level of Smetana's story the parallel with Kundera's novel "Joke" should be noted. The topic is still discussed by the media and the whole long process can be seen as evidence of re-transformation of the meaning of one small event at a number of levels and various strategies used for this re-transformation can be observed.

We can especially see how a humorous nature of the act aroused the wave of compassion and solidarity. The topic of Czech identity in connection with the sense of humor has often been mentioned as well.
