Paper deals with the role of the Warsaw Pact Organisation in the second period of the Polish communist regime's crisis in 1981. It is based mainly on Czechoslovak and Polish archival documentation.
Issue is analysed in the scope of the general international development concerning the Polish critical events, as well as the changing policy of the Soviet leadership. Finally, it deals with question how real was in 1981 the threat of Warsaw Pact's forces invasion of Poland.
