Systemic intertexts and representations of space in early modern Czech travel literature

Abstract

The chapter is dealing with ways, in which intertextuality functioned in Czech-speaking early modern (travel) literature. Rather than anaylzing migrations of particular intertexts, the author explains how the so-called "systemic intertexts" (H.

Plett) influenced period discourses of Othering and space. The both phenomena are illustrated on the early modern apodemic literature and the so-called biblical Othering in travelogues describing the Holy Land
