The author reviews Alessandro Catalano's monograph Rudá záře nad literaturou. Česká literatura mezi socialismem a undergroundem (1945-1959) (Red Glare over Literature. Czech Literature between Socialism and Underground (1945-1959)) which surveys a relationship between politics and literature - a relationship often articulated by media.
This makes Catalano's chapters from literature history also chapters from history of media, and therefore the author used a media studies perspective in his review. After introducing a wider theoretical context of Catalano's book, as well as its particular topics, the author deals with media issues (which often appears almost inadvertently, in brief references) and concludes that reading Red Glare over Literature from media studies point of view is also meaningful, and that also in the field of media, Alessandro Catalano has managed to describe the situation in 40s and 50s more or less convincingly.
