Abstract
An attemp to answer the question of character of modernisation of bourgeoisie in the region of Central Europe based on the analysis of the research carried out by Czech, Austrian and German historiography and of the confront with the life experience of a contemporary fellow, railway builder engineer Eduard Bazika.
