Abstract
The article deals with an unpublished monograph, which was written by Josef Knap (czech interwar writer), about novelist and playwright Gabriela Preissová. Knap's monograph summarizes Preissová's prosaic works against a background of her life whereas it's concentrate on the less well-known literary works.
The text is mainly devoted to the specifics of historical-literary mediation of Preissová's life and work in this monograph and text try to imagine Knap's work in other cultural and historical contexts. Article added excerpts from this monograph.
