Abstract

In the present pilot study the authors performed a comparison of EMG activity of brachial m.biceps and m.triceps in holding the vibration dumbbell with 36Hz frequency and 1,5kg weight and in holding the non-vibrating dumbbell of the same weight. The investigation proved 1,5-2,5-fold increased activity with the vibration tool as compared to non-vibrating dumbbell.

Moreover, the authors verified the surface EMG as suitable method for analysis of exercise with the use of dumbbells serving as vibration sources.
