The aim of the paper is to address the important topic of teacher training for the use of ICT in teaching mathematics. Introduction of ICT into teaching, a worldwide trend at all school levels and in many countries, is often slowed down by teachers' fear of their use in the classroom practice.
The use of ICT has major potential in students' discovery and validation of the discovered knowledge and solving strategies. In the paper, the a-didactical situations of action and of validation are considered as suitable events in school mathematics for using ICT in a meaningful way.
Two questions are posed in the paper: How can ICT be used in these situations and what must a teacher must be able to do and know to feel confident in the use of ICT?
