Abstract

After the liberation of Czechoslovakia in May 1945 there was the cleanup from those who in recent years collaborated with the Nazi regime. Many real and alleged traitors of the nation stood before the popular courts.

Among them were also journalists. Some of them were even sentenced to death.

Journalists themselves also came within its organization for the cleansing of their professional status. Many journalists have been excluded from their profession.

There was a significant replacement of editors in the cast, especially in the sense of arrival of young and inexperienced journalists. Cleansing the state of journalism also had great political importance because it excluded many right-wing oriented journalists from public life, which had significant influence on the postwar direction of journalism and media organizations themselves.
