Abstract
The chapter "About one peculiar question" was published as one chapter out of nine, which react on debate provoked by a book by Ian Buruma, Death in Amsterdam. The author of this book investigates the situation in the Netherlands after the murder of Theo van Gogh.
The author of the chapter "About one peculiar question" applied Burma's method and asked concrete people having experience with "being different". There were people of immigrant background, people from different national groups as well as e.g. parents of children with autism.
The authors look for link between concept of integration and 'civility'.
