Abstract
Analytical applications and models are not widely spread over the environment of relational databases, because business analysts are often not good programmers. There are no applications that make the data manipulation simpler for end users similar as OLAP servers simplified production of reports.
Our paper deals with a possible approach for analytical applications development on top of a relational database. We will briefly describe our prototype of the tool RAE (Rule Analytical Engine), which isolates business logic from technical details using a powerful metadata layer.
We will describe the approach on the problem of customer segmentation.
